Another tantalising Round of 16 clash is set to take place tonight when South American adversaries, Brazil and Chile, confront each other at the Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg.
Brazil has begun its FIFA World Cup campaign with successive triumphs over North Korea and the Ivory Coast before drawing blanks with Portugal to claim top spot of Group G with seven points from its three matches.
Nevertheless, Brazil may have a selection headache in the form of injured duo, Felipe Melo and Julio Baptista; yet, the Samba Kings will welcome back international-class midfielder, Kaka, back from a one-match ban for receiving a debatable red card against the Ivory Coast for striking Kader Keita.
Meanwhile, Chile did all but top Group H after two first-up 1-0 victories over Honduras and Switzerland was followed up by a narrow 2-1 defeat to tournament favourites, Spain.
Either way, the hard work had already been done by La Roja as it easily advanced to the knockout phase of the competition.
However, Chile will have to create history without the services of Marco Estrada, and first-choice central-defensive pairing in Waldo Ponce and Gary Medel, who are all ineligible to play through suspension.
The two teams actually met in the corresponding fixture twelve years ago when Cesar Sampaio and the legendary Ronaldo each scored doubles to secure a 4-1 victory for A Seleção.
In recent times though, the South American qualifying campaign shows Brazil easily overcoming Chile on both occasions, 3-0 and 4-2; but if current form is anything to go by, Chile will believe that it has the firepower to cause a major boil over at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Kick-off commences at 04:30 (AEST) on Tuesday 29 June.
