This morning it was decided that Federation Square in Melbourne will not host screening of Live Socceroos games from the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
Concerns over numbers that will look to watch the Socceroos live at a public venue have left Melbourne organisers now looking for a more appropriate venue.
The Socceroos face Germany, Ghana and Serbia in the 1st round of the 2010 Soccer World Cup.

I am disapointed to hear that federation square will not be a host..as we all already know Melbourne is Australia’s sport capital, SO WHY WOULDN’T THEY SCREEN THE LIVE GAMES??
im sure everybody has been left stunned with this horific news.
Being concerned of too many people in a public place is not an excuse, would they prefer hundreads of people clogging up a small pub instead where there is a higher risk of violence because of all the alcohol they will have access to?
I must say i am just disgusted
The city of Melbourne website published that the site for the live screening of all the Socceroo’s games will be Birrarung Marr, Good news and good on them.
I went to the last World Cup and it was at both Birrarung Marr (sp?), and Federation square. I don’t know why they can’t do both again?
Birrarung Marr will be good though… unless it rains because it will get real muddy
