It is still too early for bookmakers to finalise the odds for the first round clash between the Socceroos Vs Germany. Germany remains at 13.0 to win the 2010 World Cup, whilst Australia is currently 81.0 to win the tournament.  Based on these odds it is obvious that Germany will go in favourites to win the first game for the Aussies. However, the Socceroos have already proven in the last World Cup they can perform well on the big stage.

Go the Socceroos!!

I hate this “who can beat who” stuff. Australia has a great chance at the World Cup. Tim Cahill has just as good a goal rate as the German strikers and Mark Schwarzer is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. It’s not like we are American Samoa versing France for God’s sakes!

For starters, you’re entitled to your opinion, but it is a pretty naive comment. Did you even read the article? All they are saying is that the bookmakers favour the Germans.

By the way, your arguement is pretty flawed, there are 11 players on the pitch for both teams, not 2. Yes, Cahill and Schwarzer are awesome players, but the team needs to gel as a unit – can the Socceroos do that better than Germany can? We’ll see.

Australia should not beat Germany. If they do then the German team should hang their heads in shame, for a world power to lose to a third rate team.

Germany are a great chance to win the entire thing, Australia, well, not in a month of sundays.
